Training Band

For a number of years now, David Kettlewell and his team have been tutoring beginners from the Strathclyde area. We are very proud to offer this tuition to the local community and beyond.

We have been working hard over the past year to improve and develop this side of things further and establish a lower grade band to give everyone the opportunity to learn the ropes in a competition environment. The aim of this is to make our learners feel part of the Strathclyde Fire and Rescue community whilst gaining the experience and tutoring necessary to make the jump to the main band.

We are delighted that this hard work is paying off. Many of our youngsters are progressing through onto pipes and drums and more experienced players have joined the band. A list of our current players is shown below:

We also have a good crop of learners who we hope will continue to work hard and progress into the band. We would like to thank all learners, members and tutors for their hard work and dedication. The training band practices each Tuesday night with staged learner groups from 7pm.

So whether you are a novice, playing with another band or have been out of playing for a while and want to come back into a playing environment we would like to hear from you. Although both pipers and drummers are welcome, we are particularly keen to boost the drum corps and would like to hear from anyone would be interested in helping the band develop further.
