Training Band

For a number of years now, David Kettlewell and his team have been tutoring beginners from the Strathclyde area. A list of the current learners and players are shown below.

We are very proud to offer tuition to the local community and beyond. With the main band establishing itself in Grade 2, we now feel it would be beneficial to try and establish a lower grade band to give everyone the opportunity to learn the ropes in a competition environment. This would ensure that our learners feel part of the Strathclyde Fire and Rescue community whilst gaining the experience and tutoring necessary to make the jump to the main band.

Two of our Grade 2 band pipers - John Paton and Rona Dawson are now part of this team to provide a continuity of style and band experience. John will become Pipe Major and take responsible for the competing side whilst David Kettlewell will retain overall responsibility for the day to day running of the band and continue with his team to tutor and develop learners.

So whether you are a novice, playing with another band or have been out of playing for a while and want to come back into a playing environment we would like to hear from you. We are particularly keen to boost the drum corps and would like to hear from anyone would be interested in taking and developing this side of the band.
