Beginnings

Local scout group started a pipe band around 1956/7. The band was tutored by Tom Findlay who was the pipe major of the newmains band.

Other Bands and Achievements

Newmains & District colliery band - won G3 and G2 champion of champions. Shotts & Dykehaed - won 4 world championships with them between 1970 & 1980 Chivas Regal - won G2 worlds in 1992 Glasgow Skye - 4th in Championship league in 2009

Tom McAllister without a doubt. He possessed so many great qualities both as a musician and a human being and is known the world over for producing the "Shotts" sound.
